This loss was good for him. When some good fighters lose, it really messes them up. Some fighters never come back from it. Francis was getting too confident, but after losing to Stipe, he lost the next fight as well, and then he came back better and won all of his fights after that.

In the rematch, i always held the opinion that stipe had lost the match due to miscalculation on his behalf, rather than lack of skills. He thought he had francis fazed and rushed (mistake) to finish the job.
