As Thomas Sowell might say “corporations are greedy but the gov’t wanting more tax money isn’t”??

My son was disabled by a doctor in a large HMO. I had many dark thoughts. I can not fault this man.

The funny thing about most people's understanding of crony capitalism is the tendency to want to only blame the capitalist while letting the crony (politicians and regulators) off the hook.

Well Glenn, one thing you overlooked (and I worked for a major HMO with claims and prior auths), is that CEOS make millions a year with bonuses because they cut costs by denying services. So there is that.

I don't think people are much different than they have ever been, the difference is their ability to express themselves in a public forum. I don't think extremism is anything new, what is shocking is that our universities are the breading ground of extremism today.

A critical topic is that many people neglect their health for years with bad lifestyles. How many claims would be affordable if there were no smokers or druggies, for example? Those druggies also include people who get hooked on prescription drugs against doctor's orders. Bad drivers are another chronic burden on hospitals. They have major roles in raising costs for everyone!

Here's where we've come to: the masses know the governing class hold them in contempt and are returning that contempt in full force. The governing class treat American lives with contempt, so Americans treat the governing class' lives with contempt.

If you're against profits, you ought to be against consumer surplus as well. Nothing is worth more to you than what you paid for it.

It’s like saying, “no offense” right before offending someone.

First we have to understand that this will not end here. Due to the sickening “accolades” this mad man has received, there will be others.

Everyone celebrating this murder is sick.

Luigi was in my year in college. The news was extremely shocking to everyone who knew him personally. It's a shame we had to lose such a talented young man.

With the left cheering on Luigi as well as cheering on Hunter Biden being pardoned for felony gun crimes, I think we can say the gun control debate is over

Where would we be without the press ginning up the fringes and making them appear to be the majority?

Hopefully, CEO's aren't as evil as is perceived because if so, they may be plotting all sorts of vile retaliation against innocent claimants and patients,

Amanpour had a very sensible report titled "What's Behind the Lionization of Luigi Mangioni?"

I don't mind being chastised for how I see it, but let me say unambiguously that I see this kid as a modern John Brown. Ultimately he would never come out alive and change things by himself. But he has been an accelerant in an already burning fire. Sure it feels disgusting to see people celebrate this CEOs death, but no one blinks an eye when they celebrate another quarter of gross profits for them and their shareholders. I suppose if you had video of all the thousands of those people's unnecessary deaths it wouldn't seem so gross when you see how one-sided this system is.

Here are some things that struck me about Luigi Mangione:

He comes from a very wealthy family. Yet it does not look as though he sought their assistance with his back injury. Additionally, he had been told not to do strenuous physical activity but chose to ignore that advice.
By all accounts Luigi Mangione has a high intelligence. Unfortunately, in our present-day society there are a lot of gushers who idolize and flatter people with outstanding gifts until that person thinks that they have the last word in or on everything, in this case over life and death. Do I need to say they don't. As for those who cheer Luigi Mangione on, imo they want to appear either dangerous or edgy themselves.
There are always going to be silly women who throw themselves at dangerous men. I can't imagine what the attraction is. Unfortunately, many become victims of the self-same men. Nothing new here.

The issue is…the insurance companies are not the reason for the ridiculous healthcare prices.
