Then all you gotta do is just have a natural inclination for catchy melodies and harmonic progression.. then you just gotta pick lyrics.. then you gotta mix it.. then you gotta hope you don’t sound like million other boring ass indie folk artists. It’s not about easy vs hard, it’s about what you want to bring to music, what value you have to offer.. how much your music moves people. If you don’t put real emotion in it, it’s bullshit that won’t do anything

This may be an unpopular opinion, but indie folk is to traditional folk as pop country is to traditional country.

It’s just pandering in a soft tone, and sounds nothing like the genre it’s trying to portray.
