With variegated floss if you stitch one at a time the varieation is more obvious. That's how I do it.

Over and back works with longer run and low contrast variegated. Otherwise, complete stitches may be a better choice. In any case, you stitching looks great

I actually prefer to stitch the 1st leg then back. The only time I don't is if the thread is a multi-colored thread...like yellow, black and green, then it's 1 'x' at a time.

If you stitch one cross at a time, it would be less frogging. Lovely work.
