We are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience

The fact that you don’t pause the music a hundred times but take notes for afterwards makes you the best reaction channel there is. Also, as an atheist I love getting new perspectives from you! Keep on!

While Tool is not Christian, they certainly deal with religious and spiritual themes more than almost any other secular band.

I'm pretty surprised you guys haven't already dug into "Parabol"/"Parabola" by Tool. It's a fantastic, beautiful song(they are two tracks but might as well be one) and your thoughts on the lyrics would be interesting.

The production of this album is absolutely flawless.

IMO, Danny Carey is the greatest living drummer alive today now that Neil Peart passed.

Although I'm an atheist I like stopping by whenever I can to get your thoughts, specially on bands I like. Congrats for your work.

Also, I like your son's comments on the music. He has a good ear for it and brings nice thoughts to it.

The Humbling River by Maynard's other band Puscifer. You will not be disappointed.

Also interesting to know: "Pneuma (πνεῦμα) is an ancient Greek word for "breath", and in a religious context for "spirit" or "soul". It has various technical meanings for medical writers and philosophers of classical antiquity, particularly in regard to physiology, and is also used in Greek translations of ruach רוח in the Hebrew Bible, and in the Greek New Testament. In classical philosophy, it is distinguishable from psyche (ψυχή), which originally meant "breath of life", but is regularly translated as "spirit" or most often "soul"."

One of my favorite pass times over the last year is watching unlikely people listen to tool. Lol

Even though I do not agree with all your beliefs, I love to see this point of view on the afterlife. If you get stuck in one belief without exposing yourself to another you can't grow as a person.

Gaugue: What time signature is that?
Tool: Yes

Based on 10, 000days, wings, Maynard is now saved, his lyrics are a well-defined truth, endlessly questioned by Maynard, in his path towards the self-evolution, becoming an enlightened being. He's following his own path as we all are, we must question everything to find our truth, and become our highest form. Instead of brushing things off as, "I Know he's this and therefore, " its been 13 years since the previous album, 10, 000 days, over 5000 days, and nearly 20 years since Lateralus, nearly 24 for Ænima, and almost 30 since Opiate, and Tool were in their 30's when they got together and got signed very quickly because of their sheer awesomeness. point being lots of time has passed by since each of their previous musical offerings. People grow as they live 5 and 10 and 15 years and more, as they say, "we grow into a different person every 5 years, " Maynard has thus passed his 12 personal evolution and at a lifelong jujitsu, cross country runners pace. It'd have been way cooler if you tried to fully understand the best you can the words of this song, sadly this felt really rushed and brushed aside, very much a lost opportunity for growth on your part and for that of your subscribers. This song contains the light to light a lot of individual paths, I'D LOOK DEEPER, but that's just like my opinion dude. Party On!

The most impressive thing, is the fact that Danny Carey is almost 59, and still nails this stuff in concert. Crazy.

Every Toolhead ever: "its hypnotic"

Tool isn't just music... it is 100% an experience. I think thats why so many potheads enjoy bands like Tool and Pink Floyd

Edit: that drummer!

Danny carey is possibly one of the best drummers of all time.
Also, Maynard loves to put religious undertones in his music. I think probably because most people want to feel like there is something out there. He is SUPER against organized religion. (Stemming from his church saying that his mother "wasn't right with God, which is why she got sick.")
He's not religious by any means... but he is definitely a spiritual person. Like positive and negative energy type.
I think that what makes tool so unique, is that their songs can speak to entirely different people, from entirely different religions... and it can still have some spiritual meaning to them.

Most Tool songs are from a Bhuddist philosophy of the world, not Secular, or anti-anything. It's amazing to me that a band that's entire purpose is to inspire other artists to create, would be considered anti-anything, they are the opposite of that, rather inspiring the good of human kind and the artistry of humans around the world.

Danny went to college for his art. His playstyle revolves around math and geometry. The interesting sound he has playing at the beginning of the song is played on one of eight electric pads, called Mandala pads.

Now that Neil Peart is gone from this world Danny is the new professor.
