2019 BMW X5 with xOffroad Pack (ENG) - Test Drive and Review

2019 BMW X5 is the fourth generation of BMW’s no longer largest SUV. BMW is launching the X7, which will compete with Mercedes-Benz GLS. The new BMW X5 has the internal codename G05, and it replaces the F15. BMW X5 G05 is slightly larger from the F15, but if it wasn’t for the football pitch size grill, it would be hard to distinguish between the two generations from the outside. It's a different story on the inside. The new BMW X5 is one of the three new models to feature Live Cockpit - a radically new take on BMW's infotainment system. This press BMW X5 I'm driving is an xDrive30d with the xOffroad Pack, which includes air suspension, electronic rear differential lock, skid plates, terrain modes, and an off road display.

Starting price: 71 000 euro
As tested: ~98 000 euro

Your tests are world-class- I’m surprised you don’t have more followers. Keep up the good work!

your videos are getting better and better! congrats and greetings from Romania.
Now that the X5 is finally comfortable I prefer it, but I believe that the Touareg is cheaper.

215mm of standard ground clearance which is already 5mm more than the F15 and X off road adding another 40mm which now totals to 255mm

This is the first of Marek’s videos that I’ve watched. Very informative and very entertaining! Really one of the best!

I love these off-road tests, this is exactly what I do on daily basis to get back home...especially when I spend $100k+ or so on a car like this ..Just FYI guys, a normal line up consists of 1 luxury SUV + 1 practical/ fun SUV + a saloon car...Also @8:50 deflate the tyres...

Why would someone dislike this? Great review with humour mixed in. Keep up the great reviews 👍

VERY useful and clear video, Marek. I enjoyed every aspect of your presentation, and the detailed comments about the offroad and steering packages were well done! Your sense of humor was also a welcome change from most videos about cars...

This X5 looks better than the prior generation 👍! I used to have the basic ‘16 X5 s35i, and it was fun and nice looking, but lack tech like lane assist, interactive cruise control, collision prevention, etc. So we got rid of it and got something waaaayyyy better and nicer. We are looking forward to check out the coming x7. Can’t wait for a review on the X7!

Pure and simple these cars are just to complicated

Wow, check out the complexity, this thing would cost alt of money for repairs in couple of years.

Great review. The M50D version would be my choice if I could afford one.

Gott in himmel that is one complicted car to drive
I appreciate you testing and reporting issues with all the driver aids although it turns out most of them don't work properly yet
Takes a braver men ( or a Tesla owner ) than me to fully trust them still

Great, great video!!! This new X5 is soft(er)? It’s about time. All previous editions I’ve driven were far too hard by half and so not luxurious at all as they crashed and bobbed around lousy American (northeast) roads. Potential buyers beware the quality. These are ubiquitous where I live and I’ve had more than 1 friend experience catastrophic failure (stranded by the road requiring tow truck) within the first 7000 miles.
