It is ironic that metal sonic had to have a couple of flash backs to see if the doctor was actually a good creator, and it turns out that he is.

I might be late to say anything, but honestly, I love how it's clear Eggman does care for Metal Sonic, but it's also interesting that, while it looks like father and son situation, their relationship might be more like artist and art, Metal has been one of the few machines of Eggman's that has actually hurt Sonic and can keep up with him, Eggman himself called him "a work of art", so while it does look like he cares about Metal like a son and might call himself father, it could just be another case of Eggman's egotism, an artist who fell in love with their own creation, so proud of himself, his good work and his effort that he values the result almost as much as he loves himself, therefore treating it like family, as if he was his own blood.

(Also, pretty sure this is the 69th comment, might be wrong, still, nice)
