These are the real issues many people don't realize until they have a situation that impacts them directly. It's also the reason some African immigrants have vowed to NEVER come back. Ghana is a great place, but your quality of life can be directly related to your income. It can literally be the difference between life and death. Good content.

Ivy, I pray you get better. I’m a healthcare provider in the US and Covid has wreaked havoc on our system as well.
Ghana is a beautiful country, with lots of history. But the truth is, it’s very difficult to live there. We have many problems in Ghana that we need to work on; Healthcare, education, lawlessness, civil rights and a myriad of infrastructure issues. I’ve lived in the US most of my live, I tried to live in Accra, but I couldn’t. I love Ghana and will always visit.

I always tell my friends, to make sure they never fall sick in Ghana. Whether you have money or not. Everything is wrong with our medical health system.

Thanks for the update Ivy. Things can change in Canada very quickly, the Covid pandemic has created problems foe health systems around the world, but in Ghana it’s a deep rooted problem that will not change for decades. It’s a funding problem ❤

As a foreigner living and working in Ghana, my employer pays for my healthcare. Are you employed? Self-employed? Do you have insurance? Otherwise it can get very expensive. In 2021, I caught covid-19 so I went to the hospital with my passport, Employee ID and insurance card. They kept me in the hospital for 10 days and it cost me around $150 (tests, medications, exams, room...). If you are insured (work or personal) or have cash, you will get the best care in Ghana. If you are poor well...like in many countries it won't be easy. GET WELL SOON

When you go to Ghana, get GLICO health Insurance for a whole year and choose a a private hospital (I recommend Lucca Health ). You'll be fine.

Welcome back! I was also sick earlier this year as well and waited hours before I saw anyone. And I remember a Nurse came out and told everyone that if they can treat their symptoms with over the counter drugs, they should go home or they will be in emergency for 12hrs or more just to be seen.

Ivy, that day there were so many young sick children and sick elderly people. It literally broke my heart!!

I hope you will receive the care you deserve and that you get better soon.

It’s sad to see what’s happened to the model healthcare in Canada.
The system here in the UK is also in shreds after Covid.
The exact same situation with a backlog of people who had treatments delayed during the pandemic.
Long waiting lists and staff shortage.
There are long waits for everything, including dental.
Many dentists are now only taking people with private insurance!
If you have money to pay you’re in luck.
Governments really need to do more to fix the problem.

Glad you’re doing better Ivy! So good to see you on your channel. You are so right, Africa is progressing and rising quickly. Hopefully healthcare will improve along with all the progress. I will be in Ghana mid-December. My husband had to cancel,
he is unable to receive the yellow fever vaccine for travel d/t health reasons. We had to cancel because of the risk factor of receiving the yellow fever vaccine for individuals over 60 years of age. Take care, and be well.
