Video shows Carnival Cruise ship battered by storm

New video shows a Carnival Cruise that ended in chaos off the East Coast this weekend.

I was on the ship. Luckily my cabin did not have any structural damage or flooding, but we had some wine glasses thrown across the room and shattered, waves so big it was hard to stay in the bed, walking was near impossible. People were in the hallways and staircases, scared and confused, some with life jackets on.

The Captain did an amazing job to bring all the passengers back safe and the ship intact. The crew did everything they could to keep the ship afloat during a storm

My mom and I just got off of RC freedom of the seas and we saw this boat in port yesterday in Nassau. Our boat avoided the storm and it rained yesterday afternoon around 5 for less than half an hour. Idk how they got caught up like that.

Can't control the weather, ship can handle more than the person can, no reason to be scared.

Anytime bad things happen to ships and trains, the news always speaks about it do rapid, but when bad things happen to planes, no bats an eye.

WOW, I’m jealous! That looks to be a more brutal storm than our 1995 Sensation cruise where we were rocked big time by large violent seas and high winds in the Caribbean Sea!!👍🌊

These are massive cruise ships. Even the most crazy of waves won’t do a big number on them. I’m sure it was scary, but not exactly on a fishing boat with a &0’ rogue waves. I was amazed at how little “big” waves did to a ship that would flipped smaller vessels.

These people just went out to have a lovely trip. I'm in North Carolina and the weather inland, was terrible over the last few days. We don't normally experience this type of weather, at this time of year. I hope Carnival offers the passengers an incentive or something. The weather is not Carnival's fault; of course; but just a show of good faith would be nice. Also, could the ship have sailed around the storm, returned to a different port? The Sunshine is the oldest ship in the fleet, I think. Mabe time for retiring her?

I taught tropical meteorology for the Department of Defense for many years. Unlike a city, a ship can move. A ship can move faster than any tropical storm. Ships have the capability to download weather satellite imagery. Hell..you can do it on your phone. There is NO excuse for a ship sailing into danger like this. They were criminally negligent, if anyone got hurt.

This would be the shit that happens to me on a first time cruise. You can already imagine the regret of those that already had there reservations about being on a cruise and people telling them it’s amazing

I’ve been on many cruises. I’m also a bit of a weather nerd. I feel it was irresponsible of that captain to take that boat through the middle of that storm. Praise God no one was hurt and the captain did bring the ship into port. I saw that storm coming last week, and was very surprised to hear a cruise ship went into it. 🤢. Just glad everyone made it back safe. I wouldn’t want to cruise with that captain. ☮️
