Here is WMET in Chicago, and Matt Harrison, in 1984, toward the end of its album rock (rock-40?) format. In 1985, the station would switch to an adult contemporary format. The frequency was also home to smooth jazz for many years, long before that format had a name. Today it is country-formatted "Big 95.5."

1985: "Enough... is Enough!" - Nail in the coffin for this station! ("The Noise is Gone!") They went to easy listening when no one expected it, and then completely died off after that!

I love the Bee Discount radio ad (1:59) (Even though I wasn't born in Chicago in the '80s or lived in the '80s as I was born in 1999 in the sleepy area of Boise, ID.)

Wish we could hear the songs play all the way through.

Only good thing that came out of WMET was Scott Loftus who went on to keep real rock and metal alive in this city for years

I am guessing WMET competed with WCKG at one point. Then the 95.5 frequency flipped to smooth jazz then some Latino format before flipping to country music.
