My great grandfather on my mother’s side was from Czechoslovakia.

When he was young he had fallen in with the partisans, I believe after escaping German custody.

I’m not sure, I haven’t been told the whole thing.

Later on after the end of World War Two, he left and ended up joining the French foreign legion. The skills he had learned as a partisan probably helped him there.

This was a great song and got me thinking about him and his story.

My heart is in great pain when i see my own countrymen, descendants of those who suffered under fascism be fascists themselves. My great grandfather was an artilleryman in "Berling's army", or the Polish army in the Soviet Union, his actions and the actions of his comrades will be forever immortal in history. Glory to those who dedicated their life to struggle against fascism, glory to the Heroes!
