ΣΤΑ ΜΟΝΟΠΑΤΙΑ ΤΗΣ ΙΣΤΟΡΙΑΣ
Η δεύτερη εξόρμηση της Περιβαλλοντικής Κίνησης Θάσου στα μονοπάτια της ιστορίας, συνεχίστηκε την Κυριακή 18-10-2020 στον Λιμένα και πάλι. Συνοδοί-ξεναγοί, σε αυτήν την βόλτα στην ιστορία του νησιού, οι έγκριτοι αρχαιολόγοι Τόνυ Κοζέλι και η σύζυγος του Μανουέλα. Η περιήγησή μας ξεκίνησε από την είσοδο της Αρχαίας Αγοράς, την οποία επισκεφθήκαμε την προηγούμενη φορά.
Η ξενάγηση άρχισε στο ιερό του Ποσειδώνα, συνεχίσαμε στην πύλη της Θεάς πάνω σε άρμα, με το έξοχο ανάγλυφο, αμέσως μετά περιηγηθήκαμε στον Αρχαϊκό ως τα Ρωμαϊκά χρόνια συνοικισμό της πύλης του Ερμή και των Χαρίτων. Ανηφορίσαμε προς το Εβραιόκαστρο που ήτανε το ιερό, των θεσμοφόρων θεοτήτων Δήμητρας και Κόρης, σήμερα στη θέση αυτή, βρίσκεται κτισμένο το εκκλησάκι των Αγίων Αποστόλων.
Ακολουθώντας το τείχος, φτάσαμε στο αρχαίο θέατρο της Θάσου, Από το θέατρο το όμορφο μονοπάτι μέσα στο δάσος μας οδήγησε στην Ακρόπολη. Η ακρόπολη χτίστηκε τον έβδομο αιώνα π.χ. Και περιείχε τα ιερά του Απόλλωνα Πυθίου και της Αθηνάς. Σήμερα σώζονται ερείπια από το κάστρο του Jacomo Gattilusi ο οποίος ανακαίνισε την ακρόπολη στις αρχές του 15ου αιώνα. Στον επόμενο λόφο βρήκαμε, το παλιό λατομείο εξόρυξης των μαρμάρινων όγκων που έκτισαν το τείχος. Η θέα από εκεί μοναδική, όπως επίσης και η σκάλα που κατεβαίνει προς την νότια πλευρά των τειχών. Ακολουθώντας πάντα το τείχος κατηφορίσαμε προς τα νότια, όπου συναντήσαμε σε έναν μαρμάρινο όγκο δύο πελώρια μάτια που προστάτευαν την πόλη και πιο κάτω την πύλη του Παρμένη.
Η βόλτα μας τελείωσε στον οικισμό της πύλης του Σειληνού με την ομώνυμη πύλη. Η γύρα μας ήτανε μικρή, αλλά ιδιαίτερα όμορφη και οι ιστορικές γνώσεις που πήραμε, ανεκτίμητες. Υπεύθυνοι για αυτό, οι δύο προαναφερθέντες επιστήμονες τους οποίους ευχαριστούμε πολύ, για την συμμετοχή τους και τις πληροφορίες που μας πρόσφεραν με μεγάλη προθυμία. ON THE PATHS OF HISTORY
The second excursion of the Thassos’ Environmental Movement on the paths of history, continued on Sunday 18-10-2020 in Limenas village again. Guides, on this walk through the history of the island, were the renowned archaeologists Tony Kozeli and his wife Manuela. The meeting took place in front of the ancient market, which we visited at first time. So the tour began in the sanctuary of Poseidon, we continued to the gate of the goddess on a chariot, which has one magnificent relief. The tour was gone on the Archaic, until the Roman years, settlement of the gate of Hermes and the Graces. We went up to Evreokastro where the sanctuary of the institutional deities, Dimitra’s and Kori’s, used to be, but today the church of Agios Apostolos took its place. Following the wall, we reached the ancient theater of Thassos. From the theater the beautiful path in the forest led us to the acropolis. The citadel was built in 7th century B.C. and included the sanctuaries of Apollo Pythios and Athena. Today, ruins of the castle of Jacomo Gattilusi are preserved, who renovated the acropolis in the early 15th century. On the next hill we found the old quarry where the marble volumes were being extracted in order to build the wall. The view from there is unique, as well as the staircase that descends to the south side of the walls. Always following the wall we descended to the south, where we met in a marble volume two huge eyes that protected the city and below the gate of Parmenis. Our walk ended in the settlement of the gate of Seilinos with the homonym gate. Our tour was small, but very beautiful and the historical knowledge we gained, invaluable.
