I was thinking of a way to do this the past few weeks actually. Your design creates a complete seal which is something I would avoid.
The reason being, the more water you put into such a device, the more force the airpump would need to exert on the pressure chamber, to push the air through the water membrane.
So if you really wanted to fill this with water so it lasts a few days it would prbly just backup and not create any bubbles, and not purify anything. I'm guessing that's the reason you put hardly any water in.

The design I have in my head is more of a wide tray filled with water with a lid over it. The lid has 2 openings, one for the airpump to blow air directly onto the water surface, and the exit is kind of like a chimney to persuade the air that escapes to take as little dust away as possible.
I think that would be a more practical design.

You could prbly take a water vacuum cleaner and just leave it on xD
Maybe with some mods....

You add water every 10 minutes? What about over night?

Where to begin...first, the thing is top-heavy and could fall over due to the height of the bottles and the motor sitting on top. Shorten it! Then, though you glued the motor on top, there are no vent holes for the purified air to escape, so it will go back through the motor. Maybe that works, I don't know. Last, you barely put any water in it so it could also evaporate quickly and run dry. Not sure there is enough water to effectively collect dust and odors which is the whole point to this item.

Your inlet is taking in the exhaust try making the inlet no so close for better air circulation

Would water trap smoke? I have nasty neighbors burning tyres and plastics every night. I currently use hepa 'air purifier' 24h and it helps but doesn't remove all the smoke, perhaps 75%. If water is able to trap smoke, I could use air pumps and a large barrel of water.

Also just wanted to add that water filtration although effective, adds humidity to the air which may be undesirable.

A bong method is what your trying to accomplish, but you failed. The air with dust has to pass threw water where the dust & particle in the air get trapped in water & clean air is pulled back out circulating back into the environment!
