5 Chopin Pieces You May Have Never Heard

5 Chopin pieces you may have never heard. Too often people say "Oh, if only I could hear Chopin's works for the first time" but then they go listen to the funeral march and minute waltz. Here are some lesser-known pieces that I love and you may enjoy. I could name thousands (ok not really) of pieces like these, but here are some of my favorites. For more have a listen through the mazurkas and find some you like. They are under appreciated. Anyway, Merry Christmas!!

Tracklist:

1. Polonaise #9 in B Flat Major
2. Variations on "La Ci Darem La Mano" by Mozart (variation 1)
3. Cantabile in B Flat
4. Piano Sonata #1 (movement 1)
5. Prelude Op. Posth. in A Flat

3 & 5 are the only ones I didnt know. I always listen to a playlist on spotify called "all chopin piece" while playing videogames, but apparently there are a few pieces missing, mostly posthumously. So I assume the number 3 & 5 in this are also posthumous. Great list though, and I will have to complete that playlist one day, it will be fun to see what other pieces I have never heard.

Me being the massive Chopin fan I am, I’ve heard all but one of these pieces. I haven’t heard the variation on Mozart, but that’s mainly because I’m not a fan of variations.

I've heard that first Polonaise many times during my blessed youth. I had developed a preference for for slower performances of it.

yes, often times the 'easy pieces' are simply not on the great musician's repertoire. I recently studied Chopin's mazurka op. 17 no 4. only then found out how Horowitz interpreted this piece, and i started all over again.... It looks so trickery easy, but is not. 2 years ago Valentina Lisista gave a concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London ( after listening to all of her internet performances I simply had to go) her 'encore' was Für Elise from Beethoven. A piano piece that every student learns to play maybe already in second year. When she announced it, a short wave of laughter went through the audience ..whatt..? fur elise, you could hear them thinking. but a breathtaking performance followed, which was even emotional... at present Georgijs Osokins really touches me by his so personal interpretations, ( finalist Chopin competition 2015) which gives such an extra overwhelming dimension to all the Chopin pearls we already known so well..

There used to be an LP on the Pearl label that had a bunch of unknown Chopin masterpieces.

I am surprised that Ecossaises aren't included. The first one is definitely not lesser known.
