Thanks Gabriel, as usual very useful info! The sweep didn't seat the log guard properly, I can't slot it back and I can now see why - he must have put the 2 bottom chamfered bricks back the wrong way around.

Thanks very much for this mate.my chimney sweep has had mine out, and I wasn't sure if there should be small gaps where the sides meet the top plate.but looking at yours, you have them too.

this is great thanks!!! Can I check - should the petal grate fully close? We've just bought an Inspire 40 and it doesn't - wondering what your experience is of these and whether it's something I should be concerned about (using it to burn wood and from my research the petal grate should close completely but maybe I wasn't right?)
