We had an ad on tv in new zealand for fathers day where a boy is sitting at his desk with a mug theyre all meant to paint for their dads, except he doesnt have one. So he gets the idea to paint it for his mum. He surprises her the next morning with the mug and a card.
Single parents deserve recognition on the days meant for the other parent. Its not always cause someone walked out on their family. Sometimes a parent has died, or it turns out your parent thats not there was actually a piece of shit and your parent took you and got out of that abusive home.
And it can be helpful to kids who dont want to be left out, because it can be upsetting for them.

It should be something done for both a mother or a father (or grandparents or others raising children not necessarily their own) because they take on both roles.
