'Your Children Are Evil!' Voddie Baucham

In his defense of the Reformed doctrine Total Depravity, Voddie Baucham has repeatedly called children evil, claiming they're "Vipers in Diapers". Voddie, like all Augustinians, holds a view of inherited or imputed sin and guilt which is at odds with the text of Scripture.

This is but a short compilation intending to highlight his absurd claims and note the dangers such beliefs can entail; particularly with regard to how Total Depravity can lead to child abuse. Moreover, in telling people they sin because they're a sinner, this doctrine makes sin natural, numbing the conscience to remorse, while claiming repentance is impossible.

It is our hope that such a presentation provokes adherents of Augustinian philosophy to be good Bereans and search the Scriptures on this matter.

I'm an atheist, but I'm just so glad and relieved to see other Christians denouncing this guy and his message. I was once in a service where the pastor reference Baucham and this cheap "vipers in diapers" line, and I just remember being totally disgusted by the congregation's laughter: how unthinking and warped do you have to be in order to think that babies are immoral rather than amoral? Obscene stuff.

For saying this nonsense. It is so anti child and unBiblical . To see those people laughing at it made me sick. I am 66 years old and have 8 children, my youngest is 17 and we have 20 grandchildren and counting. I have done pastoral ministry for over 36 years. Now for the truth of the mater-
If babies want to kill their parents, but are not big enough to pull it off, they will grow and one day have the strength to do it, but for children to kill their parents at any age is super rare. Did Vodie give any examples? No!
Did Vodie read the scripture where Jesus said such are the kingdom of heaven and we must become as a little child . No ! did Vodie read where Jesus blessed the the little child? No! Can you imagine Jesus blessing little murderers and vipers ? Vodie can!

This point blank contradicts the words of JESUS HIMSELF: "Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and *_become as little children_* ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." (Matt 18:3) and when the people practiced the core notions of this doctrine by withholding children as unworthy to approach unto God/Jesus.. Jesus REBUKED THEM and corrected the notion by the INSTRUCTION "Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: *_for of such is the kingdom of God."_* (Luke 18:16) this is DEFINITELY what Baucham is doing by condemning the innocent! He is point blank denying the words of Jesus!

The scripture tell us to train up a child in the way he should go.
Yes, children in a general sense are innocent and trusting, that's how Jesus wants to come to Him.
If you really believe in the depravity of man, then your heart should be humbled every day in repentance and prayer. More things caught not taught.
