The first drops of rain touch my face as the wind begins to pick up. A tall oak tree stirs menacingly high above me. I grab my coffee and start indoors, where the faint sound of the blues echo.

I know she left long ago in the night, taking the storm of whiskey and bitterness with her. No - the storm is here; always with me. I carry it snugly, like a favorite sidearm.

The air is cool and fresh, soothing the back of my neck as I tread quietly, the tree canopy partially sheltering me from the light rain thus far. My hand is unusually steady for this time in the morning, giving me hope for a peaceful weekend.

I breathe in the storm air once more, and head towards the faint notes of the blues.
