We absolutely need a reclamation of natural law. Our very nation was founded on the principles of natural law, and our society is suffering greatly out of our rejection of it.

These shorts are great, but if you could please lower the volume of the music a little they’d be even better.

Also, as a Christian we should love people enough to tell them the TRUTH! (In love, of course!) I would want someone to tell me something that could possibly SAVE me... Why would i keep the truth that saves all to myself? Jesus wants to be with us. He made us. He loves us! He doesn't want us to keep sinning and being separated from God.

"Until the Second Vatican Council, Catholic moral theology was largely founded on natural law, while Sacred Scripture was only cited for background or substantiation. In the Council's struggle for a new understanding of Revelation, the natural law option was largely abandoned, and a moral theology based entirely on the Bible was demanded.

I still remember how the Jesuit faculty in Frankfurt trained a highly gifted young Father (Bruno Schüller) with the purpose of developing a morality based entirely on Scripture. Father Schüller's beautiful dissertation shows a first step towards building a morality based on Scripture. Father Schüller was then sent to America for further studies and came back with the realization that from the Bible alone morality could not be expressed systematically. He then attempted a more pragmatic moral theology, without being able to provide an answer to the crisis of morality.

In the end, it was chiefly the hypothesis that morality was to be exclusively determined by the purposes of human action that prevailed. While the old phrase "the end justifies the means" was not confirmed in this crude form, its way of thinking had become definitive. Consequently, there could no longer be anything that constituted an absolute good, any more than anything fundamentally evil; (there could be) only relative value judgments. There no longer was the (absolute) good, but only the relatively better, contingent on the moment and on circumstances."

-- Pope Benedict XVI (Essay: 'The Church and the scandal of sexual abuse')

I seriously don't understand why this effects anybody else, if I'm gay how does that at all change the course of your life, I'm actually curious, it's so confusing how people can be so hateful, and then turn around and play the victim. Just give us a month man

The thing to remember is that Christian morality is not about arbitrary rights and wrongs. It is about the fulfillment of the human person. It is about love and joy and perfection. We aren't asking people to arbitrarily obey God, but inviting people to perfection, to true glory, to the beauty of divinity partaken from Our Lord. When Christian morality is reduced to rules, and personal fulfillment and joy are set aside, people look for those elsewhere. And that is how we got to where we are today.

Ah yes, like in the example of the woman taken in adultery when Jesus says at the end "I condemn you; go and commit adultery no more".

So hypocritical. Claims that he is using “natural law” when he immediately invokes his Byzantine Catholic notion of a supernatural being. Judged by any standard of argument, this amounts to saying, “I’m right, you’re wrong, so there! Stamp it, touch black, no do overs!”

So few will simply trust Christ that His payment was all that was needed and sadly think that their pitifully imperfect works are on par with what Jesus did for us. Pride comes in many forms..

Agreed. But one thing is to tell them what to do, and another very different thing is to force them to do that

We all know that we can't force people to do what is right out of respect of man's free will but it's our duty to offer each other the choice to do the right thing in service to God.

Careful how you use shame as a weapon. Telling people what they should and shouldn't do is a slippery game we've been playing for thousands of years, with great deals of backlash and futility

hi Sisters and Brothers. My name is Jacek and I come from Poland. Last week, a uniformed corporation called the Police attacked my brother from Poland in Walsall. Ignoring all documents and explanations, they impounded his car and are threatening to lose it. We need your help, friends. The pressure we should put on this corporation should restore the right to live, breathe and use the road as a human traveler. We should act quite efficiently and we are planning a happening this weekend. Will you help?
