Here we'll look at using this old DC to DC converter chip to boost voltage high enough to light an LED strip. While there are surely better chips that could be used, because we're not running on battery, very high efficiency isn't a big deal. If a constant current driver is desired, a precisely selected sense resistor can be used. In this application, LED heating will be low, so current will remain quite stable.
