Here in New York we just wrapped up our 10th anniversary of Japan Cuts festival of new Japanese cinema. We asked the guests what their favorite Japanese words are.

Here are their responses:

Atsuko Maeda (Actress) - 美味しい (oishii); delicious
Kensaku Watanabe (Director) - 二兎追うものは一兎も得ず (nito ou mono wa itte mo ezu); He who runs after two hares will catch neither
Denden (Actor) - 博愛 (hakuai); love for all
Lily Franky (Actor) - いいと思います (ii to omoteimasu); that looks good
Hitoshi One (Director) - さようなら (sayounara); goodbye, until we meet again
Kazuhiro Soda (Director) - どうも (doumo); hello, thanks, goodbye
Eiji Uchida (Director) - 風 (kaze); wind, 刹那 (setsuna); at a moment, instant
Eric Nyari (Producer) - もったいない (mottainai); Don't be wasteful

Hello! If it's not much trouble, could anyone help me with my japanese? Is it ok to say "Watashi wa anata wo motto aishteru" as if to say "I love you more"? Thanks!

My favorite word is probably Yugen (幽玄) and my least favorite word is probably Shoganai (しようがない) because it is often used when with proper planning it could've been prevented. lol
