Remember most of the people running these services are volunteers, it's ok to not have uptime.

Can you make a video explaining Freedesktop more in-depth? Thanks Brodie.

I didn't know this had happened, but it definitely could have affected Gentoo (and its variants) users, since it is a true source based distro with a few packages here and there. Portage ebuilds pull code tarballs directly from source repos, but only when the packages is actively being updated.

I have stood there looking at an array with two dead drives at the same time, wondering what are we going to do as step one? It's not a good feeling.

I'm surprise by this issue with ceph, it would be intresting to have details about it...

So the main server between developers and distro-maintainers was out. End users might not have noticed this at all, like me. Could be a bigger deal if the same happened during Windows updates. That of course wouldnt be reported in a YouTube video.

Wouldn't it be nice to have GIT repositories distributed over TOR networks with a limited amount of well-maintained robust servers spread across countries as backup buffers adhering to a common protocol such as Gitea? Things would have been much easier.

I don't know how you stay on top of these things. Are you subscribed to a bunch of lists?
