They could, “subvert my expectations, ” by actually making a good, strong male character film through a new James Bond. LOL. We all know that’s not gonna happen.

Judi Dench‘s M had a certain class. They probably thought that a character like Bond would not take a female M seriously, so they had to build up some tension. When I watched it in the 90s it made sense to me. They have just overcooked it and whenever we see such a scene today it’s more like „here we go again…“. That’s why I believe that forcing „the message“ everywhere has actually hurt the cause.

6 actors have played Bond in the official series. Keeping the spirit of the franchise was said before about Star Wars... Look how that turned out. I fear the franchise is dead.

Female "James Bond"-like agents is the tired trope since 1960s-1970s. Every country in the world made those types of movies including UK and the US.
Trying to pretend there's never been a female secret agent movie like Hollywood does is madness.

James Bond is a 1950s-60s male fantasy. Leave him be that. Changing him, updating him, is like Dr who, no longer the same. I’m not a huge JB fan…wrong demographic…but it can be entertaining as it is. He’s a womanizer, he’s a superhero, he drinks, 🤮smokes 🤮 But that’s what he should stay! HE…and straight, white, male.
