Now might be the golden age of humanoid general purpose robot development.

So is Sanctuary AI.

Sanctuary says they’re on a mission “to create the world’s-first human-like intelligence in general-purpose robots.” They’ve recently released their 6th generation robot, called Phoenix, and have completed their first commercial deployment in March. They’ve raised over $100 million.

Today we’re chatting with co-founder and CEO Geordie Rose.

I enjoyed the interview. I would've liked to hear more about the inherent dangers of recreating human existence in machines. A primary concern is that it could endanger freedom of speech or allow a few influential political systems to dominate narratives and influence the public opinion. For instance, instances on platforms like Twitter have shown in the past that if democratic party establishment can influence censorship, it can impact who gets a voice and who doesn't, based on political narratives.Twitter employees also happily obliged because they were bias. I see similar pattern playing out in media where partisan news curation and subtle narrative pushing can be done without most people even noticing. Now something that's powered by AI can magnify all those problems by many times.
