Fuji X-Pro 2 Stills and Video Image Quality Review

We were pretty impressed by the Fuji X-Pro 2 when we saw an early unit, but we really wanted to see the image quality, AF performance and video quality of the final camera. Fortunately, Fuji sent us a production unit before the camera's launch. See how the Fuji X-Pro 2 stacks up to the competitors in these important areas!

For the sake of the camera industry, I hope the X-Pro 2 goes very well. I think it should based on SLR users that were using a D7200 or even a D610 wanting something to help them spend less time in front of a computer for post processing and carry and more convenient and retro stylin camera. The new sensor is exciting. Though I have been very happy already with my XT1. I actually down/upgraded from the D600 when it had the oil/dust issue. So glad I did. The XT1 goes everywhere with me. I use the wifi to upload all the time. Post-Processing? Nah, on my phone. Will I get the X-Pro 2? I think I'll end up getting it. I just need time to use it more. This camera is a must for any Xpro 1 user. Good video guys. Did sound a little negative though, comparing it to a D7200.. We want it to sell well right? But I understand you both and know that telling the truth is far more important than creating the obvious hype that others may.

Thank you guys for doing this. You are seriously the best YT channel for camera reviews. It is great to hear Fuji is making the video more serviceable.

I assume in video the peaking still disappears when you start recording right? That is something I wish they would fix.

Images look sharp and glad to see Jordan likes the positive direction of the video capabilities.

Excellent, good to see something sympathetic to the X Pro 2, yet objective about strengths and weaknesses.

I've got to be honest with you guys, the colors on this video were fantastic. I realize it's not a perfect video system to shoot with all the time, but this video looked sharp and warm. I'm not sure I'll upgrade from my X-E2, especially now with the firmware 4.00 update, but the X-Pro2 does look to be a wonderful body.

he says at 4:27 "continuous AF looks pretty much the same" (between XT1 and Xpro2). Well thats 100% hogwash. I own a pair of XT1 and been testing the XPRO2 all day today (with traveling Fuji REP), and theyre NOT EVEN CLOSE to the same in continuous

Very pleased with your review guys. Being a professional X series user since the X100. Thanks for doing this review. It was wonderful seeing the video quality and your honest interpretation on the sensor quality. I believe the you get the best out of a fuji x camera when print is the medium of choice. At least... it works for me.

Finally someone who takes the Fuji ISO inflation into account. I am getting bored of people saying the new X-pro2 is performing better ISO-wise than A7SII. Thanks for an objective review!
Xpro2 is an awesome camera. And the sensor? Yes, they finally got the sensor to today's DX standards. But something revolutionary? Not at all.

Great informative video revisiting the X-Pro2 with final production camera.. really looking forward to getting this camera when it ships..

now, being it's a production camera you have there now, can we expect to start seeing the X-Pro2's available sooner than later as it's been pushed back so much over the past few weeks? If you have a production camera, it would seem Fuji's finally fixed their firmware that they say has caused their delays in production and shipping. Let's hope so! When do you expect to have and ship the X-Pro2's?

I gotta say this video quality looks great...and I'm literally a 0.01% video shooter (but love y'alls' videos) - pleasing image and outstanding color. XPro2 looks like an interesting camera, but the price is a bit optimistic and I see it falling quickly after the batch of initial buyers get their hands on one. I'll be saving my pennies for the X-T2 anyway :D

As for Fuji in general - if you shoot Fuji, you're generally not chasing the most technically impressive photography on the market. I moved down from an A7ii, FE 28/2 and 55/1.8 lenses. Why? I absolutely hate the Sony shooting experience. Outstanding image quality, but without any fun during the process.

So with Fuji, you get great support from the company, a great lens system and capable (if not the "BEST") bodies. That's a great place to be for photography, IMO :) It's great to have a choice!

The colors really stand out in this video. The DR might be somewhat limited but the overall contrast and skin tones are truly beautiful.
