TAD 6L6GC vs SYLVANIA 6L6GC Tube Comparison

Here is a tube comparison, a pair of TAD 6L6GC vs a pair of SYLVANIA 6L6GC power tubes. Using my PEAVEY XXX 112 combo amp and my IBANEZ RGD61ALET guitar with Fishman Fluence humbuckers and Evertune Bridge.

Muting the chug hard really shows how tight they are.Like to hear that.Because being aggressive and light shows the range.Some tubes are mushy but when you really play aggressive the sound completely changes.That is why I like tubes over SState.You can control the destortion by how hard you play.SS always sounds the same, there are no dynamics or feedback that can sing.SS isnt bad if you play Pantera but when play ozzy or Priest it sounds like poop.

TAD has more highs (good or bad depending on what you want) but the Sylvanias have a really sweet sounding mid and seemingly smoother highs. I really wish there was some clean tone in this, it's tough to figure out what's really going on behind all that distortion and how the distorting is DISTORTING each. But if I had to pick, I'd go with the Sylvanias. They had a little more of that great greenback vibe. The TAD's are more like a V30....less pronounced difference, it's very slight, but I can hear it for sure.

Nice comparison and video! i liked the TADs but we don’t know what you’re comparing the vintage tubes too. TAD rebrands current production tubes. they do not manufacture them. I guess it’s a gamble when buying TADs sound wise. they weed out the turds so at least you’re getting. reliable tubes from TAD.
