Nike Huf Dunks Restoration and Deconstruction

PSA: Don't sleep on used sneakers at Sneakercon! Vick Almighty picked these up at one Sneakercon and by the next one he attended they were on feet!

The Huf Dunks have been one pair that Vick has wanted in his collection for a while and after a quick search at Sneakercon Dallas he was able to secure them. There are 3 different colorways in the Huf Dunks with tons of hidden details. After a quick restoration and a customization these could become Vick's daily wearers.

To start Vick took on the cleaning process from the inside to the outside using the Signature Cleaning Kit. To start Vick took on the leather materials with the three different brushes and all natural Solution to breakdown the daily grime and wear on the sneakers. RESHOEVN8R's Solution not only cleans the sneaker, but it conditions the materials as you clean. One important step while cleaning is to make sure you clean the inside of the sneaker just as well as the outside. I mean after all you never know where these people's feet have been!

Once the pretreatment was completed and the sneaker was looking clean it was time to finish the job. We put these in the washing machine to fully flush out the materials on the trickier portions of the shoes such as; the white stitching, sock liner and more. We don't always put shoes in the wash, but with used shoes it isn't a bad idea!

After the sneaker was clean it was time to put them in the indoor set up to really whiten the leather materials. One thing you might not know is that UV rays are great at whitening multiple materials from leather to canvas and even mesh.

The hidden details on sneakers deserve to be seen! On this pair we wanted to show the inner panel that showcases a cloud pattern. This detail is completely optional to show, but man is it clean! When doing this make sure to be careful and take your time.

In this video not everything was perfect.. The toebox was missing that chrome swoosh, so we had to run with it. Filling in the holes and not replacing the swoosh was the best option. Although the shoes aren't exactly the same anymore it still looks incredibly clean!

Once the toebox was repaired all we needed to do was repaint and fix a couple small details. Overall this was a easy and straight forward restoration! Once again don't sleep on used sneakers! They can be repaired with a few simple steps... Most the time!
