Lyrics:

So what am I fighting for
Everything back and more
And I’m not gonna let this go
I’m ready to settle the score
Get ready cause this is war.

There are days that I think I’m crazy
Other days nothing seems to faze me.
There’s nothing more and nothing less just
All the fears that I must confess well
I’m afraid I believe in nothing.

No hopes or dreams you could’ve left me dead.
Naive and not to mention
I’m losing count of all my blessings.

With all that I’ve done, it’s too late
I can’t take back all that I have become.

So all that I’m trying to say
I’m looking for a better way
Some days it just gets so hard
And I don’t wanna slip away.

So what am I fighting for?
Everything back and more
And I’m not gonna let this go
I’m ready to settle the score
Get ready cause this is war.

Another day in the right direction
I’m ok but I’m left to question
How did I get so far behind the rest?
Why am I so inclined to forget?
All the days that you made me crazy
Nowadays you don’t even faze me
It’s all the same and I don’t stress none
Sick and tired of all this tension

With all that I’ve done, it’s too late I can’t take
Back all that I have become

So all that I’m trying to say
I’m looking for a better way
Some days it just gets so hard
And I don’t wanna slip away.

So what am I fighting for?
Everything back and more
And I’m not gonna let this go
I’m ready to settle the score
Get ready cause this is war.
I’m looking for a better way
Somedays it just gets so hard
And I don’t wanna slip away
Get ready cause this is war.

Everything back and more
And I’m not gonna let this go
I’m ready to settle the score
Get ready cause this is war.

Alt text video description: The video begins with a woman driving a red car to the site of a plane crash. She gets out and opens her trunk, pulling out lead singer Deryck Whibley, leaving him there and driving away. The band performs in front of the crash. Deryck looks through the wreck and finds various lost items such as a children's drawing, a lighter, a bottle of whiskey, a pair of shoes, etc. He uses the lighter to burn them.

This song got me through some dark times in 2018. I was dealing with severe depression, anxiety and to the point where there was suicidal thoughts. Then one evening I literally hit rock bottom and then said to myself I need to get myself sorted. When ever I had a slip I would listen to this song repeatedly to remind myself what I was fighting for.

This song means so much to me and got me through some dark times and reminded me that I was wanting to fight to sort myself out. Then just last night I watched Sum 41 for the first time ever and they played this song, thinking they wouldn’t ❤️. Thank you Sum 41

Dear Sum 41,
Thank you for arising from the ashes of 2004 and bouncing back with an awesome song, and likely an awesome album!
Sincerely,
Your Fans

Bunch of little kids commenting and talking about how this song is trash. Those same kids probably think "watch me whip watch me nene" is a great song. Call me old fashioned, but I like songs that have a meaning behind it, not just a beat and shit lyrics that kill your iq. This song was good. I'm pumped to hear some more

Aged like a fine wine. I love seeing bands that I grew up on embracing the fact they aren't the same age they once were and producing music that still kicks ass.

It seems like nowadays a rock band can't throw a soft song without people saying they're sellouts... Come on people the song is really good and it's not like Sum 41 haven't done soft songs before.

This song is amazing and Deryck looks great. I hope that he has gotten his demons under control. I know it's hard I have 12 more days and I'll be one year sober. So keep it up man.

Dear Sum 41,
Thank you from day one writing music that almost anybody can relate to, in that a lot of us struggle with issues such as depression and anxiety, and going through tough times. It’s really great therapy, almost like sitting in the psychiatrist’s chair and telling us, through heart and gut wrenching music, “Hey, It’s gonna be okay”,
Sincerely,

Your fans

I love both tracks so far. Fake my own death was a heavier song and in your face. Where as this song reminds me of pieces. A broken style anthem of sorts. Great job sum 41

I love Sum 41 a lot, I'm such a big fan of them I basically know every song off by heart. I'm so happy Deryck pulled through and now we can see him the other side of his alcoholism, sober. Idk, what I would've done if 'The Sums' weren't around anymore. Their comeback is great 13 Voices (album) and Order In Decline are amazing, at least they've not gone rubbish like some other bands. This track is emotional, about his battle, and you can see him burning his past away because he doesn't want to associate with certain parts of his past. Sum 41 forever🤘💖💖

This is one of the sides that make Sum41 the amazing band they are, they can do do so many different things well, including these softer songs with more meaning behind them…they’re amazing at it!

This song is amazing. The video fits perfectly with the song. Deryck burning things from his past because that isn't who he is now. This such an emotional video and song. I definitely loved it, it was so awesome.

This song is so strong. Everything. The melody, the lyrics, and the music video. So deep and you can feel the message. So heart-touching. Reality slapping. Not a hard fan of sum 41 but because of this, I fucking love to see them here perform. <3

Hearing those new songs from old punk rock bands lets me hope they all come back. Wouldn't it be great if Deryck said when he woke up: 'Guys, let's bring punk rock back again and release an album in a year from now on. ' So bands like Good Charlotte, Green Day, Blink 182, Simple Plan etc. would "compete" in this event and a big Punk Rock Event will be held? I think it would be my greatest year ever. And reuniting My Chemical Romance.

This is an absolute masterpiece and should have had so much more recognition. Especially when you know the context of why it was written. And it's very very moving. A favourite in my playlist
