Ok, I can do this, but why the heck did they make it so complicated and with so many steps??!!? My previous printer was a BREEZE. I scanned many, MANY beautiful photos (to frame as gifts, or hang on my own walls) by simply laying the photo on the glass, pressing the 'scan' icon on top of printer, and voila, there it was, on my glossy photo paper, or my matte photo paper, or whatever paper I chose. Piece of cake. Perfection. Then they (whoever the heck 'they' are) go and 'fix something that's not broken' - complicating it, and basically doing away with what used to be an enjoyable project ... especially for friends; birthdays, holiday gifts, you name it!, Yep, I know I can send to walgreen's, or any number of businesses who have their little photo departents, but alas, invariably screw up what used to be perfection (for me) accomplishing each project right out of my own little house, and in my own little "craft corner" I'd set up. Bottom VEY!! !! !!

How can I get my OfficeJet Pro 6978 to scan without having to open printer assistant? Before when I had my old laptop, I did not have to do this with the software at the time (the software must have been older during late 2017 at the time before it got updated in April 2018 which is what I currently have now on my new laptop). Do I need to download the older software that allowed for that and if so, do you have a link for me to download it? It cuts the amount of time I would have to spend just to scan documents which really helps.

I have a HP Desk jet 2652 That will not scan. Tech help said it was some thing to do with a drive ? It's only a month old and I've put more time in it attempting to fix the ongoing error message that I'm having second thoughts about ever buying another H P product!!
