I take a look at Super Castlevania IV for the Super Nintendo in my latest review for Halloween Havoc. Is this the best game in the Castlevania series? Is it one of the best games on the Super Nintendo? Is it one of the greatest games of all time? Find out what I think

Welcome to my channel. I have been playing and collecting games since 1987 and I use this channel to share my passion and memories of gaming. I review games that I believe are under appreciated or wrongfully dismissed on Game Genie Reviews. Video Game Nostalgia is a fun series where I take a look at a topic from my gaming past and share games that come to mind from it. I also do Top 10 lists, of course I do...what else is on youtube right? Well I like to think I put my own spin on them because they are based on my life in gaming. Hope you enjoy the channel and always looking forward to hearing from you.

You said it perfectly my man, super Castlevania 4 is a masterpiece! I consider this to be the greatest Castlevania game ever made because it took the original Castlevania formula and perfected it...

My two favorite games in the series are the first and fourth games; the first because of it's perfectly polished level design, and 4 for it's control scheme and incredible atmosphere. In recent years, both of these entries have come under more critisism and I don't understand why. Keep in mind I'm pretty young, and I never grew up with these games. I have no nostalgic bias. The games were simply that perfected and that well designed to the point where they got their hooks into me. I wish more people were able to appreciate these games; they really are incredible.

Anyways, there are my thoughts. Great review!

Great review and just subbed to your channel. I only played this for the first time a few weeks ago thanks to gaming emulators and managed to complete it but boy was it a tough cookie. Once you figure out the boss patterns it is quite straight forward. Now one of my favourite games that I could happily play over and over.

Those trades at mom and pop video stores were awesome. Back then I traded F1-Roc, a crappy racing game, for A Link To The Past.

I always like the whip dangle.
You don't hit for as much but you may not get hurt.
Plus it looks cool just flying around.

I came up with an idea.
Why is Frank's monster a bad guy?
Did Dracula kidnap him or something?
It would be cool if you could use him as aa ally like in CV3.
Or have mind control on mummy's or something.

Good job on this review!
It does say alot on the grandiose-ness of the game and even some detriments of it
Now I want to see several of you other videos.

I never realized that those ending powerups at the invisible staircase were there. I've beaten the game so many times without it. Never once got a game over on the ending boss gauntlet.

Still think stage 8, the cellar, is the toughest.
I literally dread it everytime. It's filled with one hit kills,
spikes, swinging spikes, spears, invisible blocks,
dripping poison, pitfalls, eyeballs... it sucks.

This was the first Castlevania game I played and finished. It is so polished and might be my favorite in the series. I have since gone back and beat Castlevania and Simon's Quest but, as good as they are, the don;e even come close to this one. Great video as usual, Mike!

Completed this for the first time yesterday after 27 years. I got it when I was 11 in 1992

I remember while playing the game going up or down stairs you can do the moonwalk

You mentioned that you have to do the whole last level if you loose to one of the bosses that lead to dracula. There is a checkpoint before every boss in that level, played it on the SNES classic mini btw and didnt make any manual saves. Anyways good video analysis on the game, which I just finished at the age of 27 and I think its one of the best games I have ever played <3

Yes I have the same feeling in 1992 and still. Week points, slowdown and more frames in some characters. Dream of, Multiple routes, other dracula form, more characters and story interactions. I can dream right! Still, this game is a pure arcade in snes. Is a 16-bit console era masterpiece!

That first wave of Super NES games really drove home the "Super" in their titles. This game was no different. I play it a few times every year and I still get the same emotions that I got when I played it the first time SOOO many years ago.
