[4K] New Hope Railroad: GP30 On The Lahaska Rocket!

January 17, 2021 saw us at the New Hope Railroad in New Hope, Pennsylvania. On this day, the New Hope Railroad would be running the “traditional excursion” every hour on the hour between 12:00 and 3:00 pm. Powering the trains would be EMD GP30 2198, built for the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1963. The locomotive also wore a Leslie RS3L horn, which was a nice touch.

Disclaimer: The trains are not actually called the Lahaska Rocket. That’s just a corny nickname I came up with.

This was really interesting to watch all the way through! I can see it took a lot of work to put together! 👍

Amazing! I’ve been to that railroad when I was 9 years old I think.

What happened to the Railfan weekend excursions to Ivyland now? Why did they stop doing that?
