This is the scariest game over screen I've seen in my childhood. I used to think I was the only one scared of this as a kid, but looking at the comments made me glad I wasn't the only one.

Yeah I definitely remember this indeed in my childhood.. It scared me, it terrified me actually. Just that feeling and seeing the character falling helplessly and the music..

But what scared me more for some reason, waas when you defeated Shinnok and he would fall down the pit in the same animation, but it would be more chaotic, then the skin of his head would melt away, revealing his tissued face and the unearthly growls roaring with thunder and power.

True, Horror.

I loved Mortal Kombat 4/Gold...

I actually still have MK4 and it works and I can play it on my still working PS3.. 😎

When I watch horror movies the most effective scary moments for me is when you have a lot of noise and then suddenly it's completely quiet. I believe whole heartedly that this mortal kombat ending is the reason why I find the silence so scary

When I first saw this on an mk4 arcade when I was like probably 4, I became a bit scared of sewer holes for a certain period of time, I even thought that my house’s bathtub drain had a little pit of spikes in. Looking back at it now, I’m like wow, that’s crazy.

I think the funniest thing about this is... Cyrax doesn't even Say anything Or scream He just Slams On to the spikes and doesn't even make a sound. Not even a grunt And that makes me laugh

Its funny how you get fatalitied losing the battle then you're gonna get fatalitied again by the pit fall. 2 fatalities for the price of one loss. MK is getting very gruesome they're coming up with clever ideas.
