Yoga Nidra is the practice of deep relaxation. Its roots are in Tantra, the ancient science that uses specific techniques to expand awareness in all states of consciousness. It is also believed to be the doorway to Samadhi, or Pure Awareness, the eighth limb of Ashtanga Yoga.
Yoga Nidra or yogic sleep has been called “sleep with trace awareness” and “enlightened sleep.”
