Aim for 3 with Ray Allen

The 3-pointer is THE shot in today's NBA, but that wasn't always the case. In fact, the NBA didn't introduce the 3-pointer until 1979. They adopted the downtown shot after merging with the flashier American Basketball Association, who in turn got the idea from a 1945 NCAA matchup between Columbia and Fordham in NYC. It's really not that complicated, but just in case, we got NBA legend and all-time 3-point leader RAY ALLEN to explain. Unfortunately, he couldn't help us with our long-range jumper. We'll stick to storytelling.

Steph Curry will break Ray Allen's all time record in the next 4 years. He's not my favorite player but Steph is the greatest shooter in NBA history, by a large margin. By the end of his career he'll have well over a thousand more 3s than Ray Allen, and Klay Thompson will also end his career with far more 3s than Ray.

When will Basketball take the "Three" to its ultimate, logical conclusion ?
I suggest the inclusion of the "Four point" shot, from beyond half-court, and...while I'm at it
the  "Five point" shot, from inside your own 3-point Arc.
The only other "Logical" change remaining would be...wait for it....
The  "One point" field goal,
which would occur anytime the shooting player touches the Rim. A Lay-Up would be worth two Slam-Dunks. A lovely model of consistency.
