I love the controllers and comfort. Lots of different software and games. I also like the resolution on some games is really sharp.

When I need comfort, long play, when I'm working in VR.. I always reach for my Rift. Occasionally I want the higher rez and wider FOV, and my Samsung Odyssey is good enough for that.. LOVE my RIFT! (uh.. And Oculus sent it to me for free with a 3rd sensor becuase i'm a developer and VR channel (though only with about 2, 500 subs so far...) So, . I can hardly complain about my Rift, not that I would! I LOVEVDADH 2.0!

I’d say the number one reason for Rift is the Touch Controllers, no other headset comes close.

I play 8-18 hour sessions and I agree about Rift with comfort, but if you want a long session I’d suggest buying the VR Covers kit.

I’ve owned Vive, Windows MRVR (3 models Inc Odyssey) and a few other headsets but Rift is my everyday headset.

Some people are talking up Pimax, but it lacks the quality and comfort. I’m already seeing people hacking their brand new pimax headsets trying to add Vive Deluxe Audio straps and printing 3D nose covers.

If there was a headset that equaled Touch controllers for economics, comfort, week to month long battery life, but had some improvement without sacrificing then I’d be interested, until then it’s Rift with Touch.

Love mine can play for hours, touch controllers are awesome and headset nice and light and games run smooth at fixed 90fps, 360 degree tracking is rock solid, games list is huge.Not upgrading until a real game changing experience comes out.

I'm waiting on my Pimax 5k preorder to arrive early next year, but I own the Samsung Odyssey, The Rift, and The Vive. The Odyssey replaced my Rift as my "seated" gaming rig because it just looks better even without a Odyssey+. For freedom of movement, I still use my Vive first generation, which hopefully the Pimax replaces. I find that my Rift is the most unused. I do love the controllers a lot though. I travel a lot for work, so Odyssey wins in that department too, because WMR headsets are the best for travel and "plug and play." This is where I really hope the Oculus Quest becomes my travel unit. The rift is probably the most comfortable of all the HMDs I have though.

I'm from the future in 2023. The only thing this headset needed was better panels. If you could put G2 panels in this, it would be the perfect match. I don't really care about moving around in VR so much, so the cable is not an issue.

Fully with you on this one, had Vive, sold, gave a WMR, a Daydream, a Gear VR and 2 Rifts and still no matter how much I try to use the higher res WMR still I always go back to Oculus Rift, comfort, smooth, great image when super sampled and definatelly the best controllers!

The rift does have better graphics but what they did optimizing the 835 is truly amazing. A lot of people don’t understand the 835 in the quest will be all for VR unlike a phone where it has to do a lot of background stuff etc. Many people also don’t realize it will have a active cooling fan. People are going to be shocked at what this thing is capable of but not quite there as far as rifts more intensive graphical games.

All of those dislikes are from HTC vive owners, I may buy a Rift right after GDC (Unless Rift S news comes up)

Love the rift!!! So comfortable with the vrcover, and the touch controllers just simply can’t be beat right now!!! Thought about getting the odyssey plus, but I would miss my touch controllers too much!!!!

jennifergala The Oculus Rift is the best in terms of hardware, the lenses and display are so well engineered and integrated that it’s really hard to compare the clarity to the HTC Vive even though it’s the same resolution. The rift can easily take on higher resolution headsets when comparing visual clarity, the only sacrifices the Rift takes for its clarity is a slight loss in horizontal FOV compared to the Vive and it’s arguably the worst for preventing the god ray effect, if you haven’t heard of god rays in VR it’s basically light rays from the display reflecting back into the lenses.

I was waiting for the rift s but decided to buy an og rift today. Since Oculus took them off the market I had to buy a used one but it is in excellent condition and the whole bundle with controllers and 2 sensors only cost me 260$! I'm super excited for this hmd for my new 2060 oc pro/ryzen 7 2700x build. The main reasons I chose the og rift over the new rift s was the ipd adjustment and some smaller things like OLED panels, 90hz refresh rate and the outside in tracking which is better (as of now) than the inside out tracking. The #1 reason was the ipd adjustment though, due to me having an ipd of 58 which is hard to get in an hmd with software ipd adjustment. I know this due to my psvr giving me eye strain after an hour of gameplay. Hopefully I made the right decision and I'll be jumping in the Oasis asap []-)

I'had the Odyssey Plus and I decided to resell it after 30min - For me, the Oculus Rift is the number one. Headphone is just amazing, the sound of the Samsung was very poor, forget it - And sound is very important to me. The controllers, I think I don't have to tell you guys this - You know it already, the Oculus Touch controllers are the best one market. Comport, okay.. could be better on the Oculus, but I had no fucking way to wear the Samsung with my glasses - That was the k.O. criteria.

 Let's talk about the resolution... No SDE on the Samsung, correct - but, does it look better - No, for me not. I 've tested it e.g. on Fallout 4 and in my humple opinion, it looked worser - I prefer the SDE picture of the Oculus - Of course I always use supersampling, that is something, that everybody should use, if they own a Oculus. And last but not least - The introduction to VR is a awesome experience on the Oculus - and I will never forget that day in my life.

I have had my rift since day 1 and still use it. Im also using the go and looking forward to the quest. Oculus does have very good software.
