The Truth Behind Why I Left Amway

✅ #1 recommendation for making money online

About this video:
In 2018 my wife and I joined Amway because we were promised a life of time and money freedom. As time went on, we started realizing some of the things that didn't sit right with us.

Through this journey, while we learned a lot and doors were opened for us elsewhere, we tried our best to keep moving our lives forward but were met with resistance from our team within Amway and the motivation company involved.

This lead to engaging in our next endeavor and this video talks about our experience and what led is to ultimately leaving our Amway business in July 2021 and where our journey is taking us next!

I notice how Amway never announces their actual name when trying to “recruit” newcomers until they feel that you’re sold into their scheme

In MLM you don't own a business, the business owns you.

Me and my boyfriend were approached by an Amway person. They were secretive about what the business actually was. And we went to a “business meeting” and that was when Amway was introduced. It all felt so wrong. The way everyone seemed to worship the man speaking. We knew this wasn’t for us. And let this Amway person know that it wasn’t. We were then told we just don’t have enough information. But it just seems like this has the power to tear someone’s life apart. And we don’t even want to risk it. Thank you.

The #1 lie is that it’s passive income. The truth is you’ll work more at this than any job you’ve ever had.

There are literally youtube videos detailing why 98% of people won't/don't make money selling MLMs- and a good one specifically on Amway. Its built into the system.

I got pulled in saying that this was a "business opportunity " not giving any details, and then I felt like everything and everone was just so off, I couldn't put up with that anymore. So I just made excuses and got out of this! Couldn't stand them not being direct.

I was a distributor from 1994-1998 and I remember getting a letter from Doug DeVos in December 1997 that Amway was selling "power". It was a business venture with Enron. If that isn't a neon flashing light to run in hindsight I don't know what is. I met some great people and I did some growing up but the amount of money I invested in tapes and books (the business inside the business) was astonishing. I could have purchased a few used cars for the money I spent on "Tools", products, and conventions. I met hundreds of people in that time and only one of them has contacted me since I left probably because he's out too.

I was in Amway in the 80's and I see nothing has changed. There was a Diamond distributor named Athena Dean, and she quit and then wrote a book about why. It's titled: " All That Glitters Isn't God".

I got introduced to a "mentor" on my 3rd meeting with the joker I found out from my "friend" who is now very brainwashed within this cult. I called them out on prices of their product in comparison with my local grocery stores and pulled up their income disclosure. Phwoa did the conversation take a massive turn, passively aggressive the joker turned into a tomato and yet my "friend" still sees him as a demigod.

Nothing funnier than Amway "business owners" alienating EVERYONE in their life.

I’ve studied entrepreneurship for nearly 20 years. I can tell you put more effort into affiliate marketing than you did with Amway. Great incite from your experience. You taught me things of what not to do and what to change from your experience. Hope your business is thriving today.

As a business coach I teach people how not to be a slave to their business.

I was contacted by an amway a group who stated “we aren’t amway, we do use sell what they do though but just as an affiliate”. Sadly, it was through a friend of mine whose partner got him into it. They are both Christian and tend to believe and follow quite easily compared with most. I had a few meetings with their mentor then decided to not continue as it seemed like alienating people in terms of their success was a major part. You are the Sum of the 5 people you hang around the most mantra. Sadly my friend has stopped talking to me as much, and it’s a shame as through University we were so tight…. Before amway came

Friends and family are the WORST people to start with! I can't imagine why they still use that today.

I am glad to be hearing this. I have been to 4 meetings. And it is like he said, they build your loyalty before anything. I think I will continue to be in it but I WILL NOT, no matter what, try to get family members and friends into the biz.

Living in Michigan, I encountered this business multiple times. What I did was test some of the products (particularly the "concentration" of soaps and stuff). I do think Amway has good product, but I never found the products to be a bargain. I've never understood why they didn't just use the old wholesale/retail method...which they likely do, but is hidden from view.

I was recently almost recruited to be apart of something like this. My intuition was tugging at me, and I'm glad that I listened to myself before I decided to go all in. Normally, if it doesn't feel right. It's not.

I have a good friend that has had a Amway business for 45 years! Traveled the world and is free from the corporate system. Income 900K. And beyond every year. He worked his tail off but the reward was worth it. It’s not for everyone.

Good video…… I don’t think you were slamming the business but your followers sure did. Good luck with your future business.

They told me all I had to do was find 6 people to incorporate under me. I could “retire” forever. 3 months later, I had 4 people in the pipeline, I found out you actually have to keep bringing a minimum amount of people under you every year to maintain your income.

The 5 of us left. It was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Not that there weren’t red flags already.

I agree—great people, intense cult(ure). They’re not doing anything immoral, I just didn’t feel comfortable seeing every conversation as a money-making opportunity.

You put it very well. Thank you.
