Just wanted you to know that even 5 years later this is still relevant and appreciated. With the current pandemic, this was really helpful today.

I have always used half a cup of bleach to a gal of water for home cleaning and, YES, I have also noticed so many bleaches have extra strength written on the bottles these days, once hom the bleaches do smell stronger. Now, I have a degree in biology and a PH.D in acoustic physics, bleach is used a lot in both to kill crap that gets on your hands, and soap and water too, I use Dawn and water, for me it works better than any other soap or dish soap and I am in no way advertiseing it, I use off brand bleach because of the price, Dawn is just damn good. Great video Ma'am, well stated, keep up the good info.

Thanks, my household was recently under a boil water order. I have a zero water filter, (which removes most chemicals) but it not safe with microbes "go figure". So I took my tap water added bleach let it sit for awhile then ran it through the filter to try and remove any chemicals from the bleach. It appears to be a good solution to boiling my drinking water. I am refining the method.

1 Quart is 33.30686 ounces.
1/2 Quart is 16.65343 ounces
Regular Water bottles >Average< 16.9 oz to 20 oz
It would then stand to reason you could use a single drop of bleach.

I noticed lately at the stores that many bleaches are super concentrated, extra strength, etc. I also noticed that your jugs in this video are labeled 33% more concentrate. Everybody please note that the recommended drops shown here are for REGULAR strength bleach. Please research any other types of concentrates as to how much to use.

Thank you! Wondering if it wouldn't be wiser to store in glass canning jars if using for water filtration? That way, the plastic doesn't leach into the bleach? A pint jar in every bugout location should last a long time. Also was wondering how long it should set before drinking.

This is important information.
You should add the details (matrix) of blech to water in every video description you post.

Would bleach last longer if you stored it in a glass container?

Glad I looked this up. Here in Mexico, sometimes the water smells of sewer obviously I am not drinking it but this will help for the water I will use to wash dishes and shower with.

Might be a crazy question but after you use this method, can you cook with the water?

Another late viewer question! I love your idea of detergent bottles of water and have started collecting them. I have run a lot of water through to get the soap out. Do I need to put bleach in now, or does beach go in It for drinking? I would only use it for washing hands, but didn’t know if bleach must be added before I store it away. Thanks and I really enjoy you channel and tips😁

Granny, thanks for posting. Love your bunker! If I treat 5 gallons in a clean airtight plastic container, store away from light at average temp of 80 F, about how often do I need to re-treat?

Just wondering if you knew that in the video the measurements you gave differ from the measurements in the description box? I was going to write down the ratios from the video but noticed the description box said otherwise. For example, in the video it says 2 drops/quart of water and in the description it says 5 drops/quart of water. Thank you for your help!

Do I change the 55 gallon water barrel with bleach every year?

Love your instructional videos. Thanks from Australia. BUT the best bleach to buy for water purifying is industrial bleach listed as between 4 and 6% sodium hypochlorite and sold specifically for use in Restaurants or Food Preparation areas. This will ensure you get a bleach that does not have all the nasties that supermarket cleaning bleach sometimes has. As #AlaskaGranny says, rotate your stock well before the best-before-date as the effectiveness of the sodium hypochlorite reduces over time.
