How to brush your cat (when they DON'T like it) - my EASY, EFFECTIVE trick!! 🙀🙌🏼

Today I show you how I trained (er.. tricked?) Alfred into being brushed regularly ;) hope it helps!

I have an older cat, she will be 15 yrs next month. Never liked being brushed. Then over 3 yrs ago this wonderful little kitty came into my life. I've never had a connection even close to another animal.(kind of like soulmates) I told you about our morning routine. I still sometimes cry after I sit down with my coffee and she's not here... Anyway she had very silky hair and shed a lot and it was very hard to get off anything. I got her used to being brushed as soon as I got her and she LOVED it. If I just held up the brush she would try to brush herself by rubbing her face on it first. After I brushed her back for a few minutes she would flop over and hold her legs up for me to do her belly. It was quite comical. But while I brushed her I would say good girl and just make a fuss about the whole routine cuz it would draw the older cats attention. Now my older cat will actually let me brush her instead of drawing blood when I try. Thanks again for the great video! Sorry my comment is so long.#quarantine sucks

I started by hugging and petting him when he was on top of the cat condo, then without letting him see the brush started brushing him. He found out he liked it, now when I stop he'll swat at me to continue. He can't get enough. Got any tricks how to cut his claws with out needing First-Ad ?😺😼

I've tried that with my cats. The ones that love food are just fine. But if they want to eat without being bothered nothing changes. Sume are just stubborn. LOL

OMG I thought I was the only one with a cat who hates being brushed lol. I'm going to get this brush and try this method. I got a glove and small brush that doesn't work too well to get grab fur. Thank you!

I have one cat that prefers being brushed to pets, and my other cat is the opposite its so funny

Hi Jasmin, thank you so much for this trick. We have an Alfred, called Blue. She also hates being bushed, so I’m going to start to train her like you did with Alfred, and progressed to brushing. Your cats are so happy., you’re obviously a great owner. I hope I can be the same some day ❤

My cat is too smart for this trick. She bolts as soon as the brush comes out. And now she's afraid of the food bowl too.

I had already tried this. Minimal success. She still turns around or moves away. Can sometimes get a bit done. It's only on her back though, right. You can get the sides a bit but forget the underside! Might try a furminator brush. I have a CatGroomer (an EquiGroomer knock off) but can see something like the Furminator would go deeper.

my cat is not that food motivated and has always been skittish ever since she was a kitten, she is long haired and needs to be brushed, she is fine being brushed everywhere except her belly, armpits and bum/thighs. i got grooming scissors from the pet store and trimmed her hair around her bum and back of her back legs pretty short so poo wouldn't get stuck to her anymore (she would freak out and run around the house whenever it happened, it was pretty sad), i've tried to brush her armpits while shes eating but she will just run away and then not eat, and she grew an aversion to food thinking every time she got fed she would get brushed. i honestly don't know what to do, i just have my husband forcefully hold her while i quickly brush her tummy and armpits while calming talking to her and praising her even though shes crying and struggling the whole time, we feel awful but give her lots of love and treats afterwards. i was hoping to find a nicer way to deal with her but i guess she's unique, i just tell myself that 20 seconds of her struggling and me brushing her is better than having to take her to the vet to have her mats shaved off

2 litters, 19 long hairs and none will fall for tricks. Dry food is out all the time and i don't do any other foods. They don't get fired up over food

i thought you weren't supposed to groom your cat with a furminator brush like your'e showing, i might be wrong but when i bought mine a couple of months ago i think it said clearly in the instructions that you can damage the top coat that way and also hurt the cat D:

we just came from the vet who had to shave our Kitty Kitty, she had a mass of mats "s that seem to hurt her, she hates being brushed and she can't reach the back by her tail. it cost $100 to sedate her, I am gonna try your trick and hope it works
