Wish there a novel of the Continuation of Star Wars Resistance. I want to see Kaz and Team Colossus recruiting other Resistance cell for the fight of battle of Exegol, Tam becoming a ace pilot, continues Tehar Kids, Mika Grey and the Force plot line. I've Founded out Sidon Ithano was present in the battle of Exegol, So Kix must be at the Battle of Exegol, too. It would be interesting Kaz interacts to Kix

I really don’t have a problem with the line from Episode IX. Simply for the reason that people speak imprecisely all the time. Also, the movies are made for people that watch the movies. If she had said, “He abandoned us to join the New Republic, ” most of the audience would have been lost. She could have said, “He abandoned us to join the New Republic before joining the Resistance, ” most of the audience would STILL be lost, and it would have been awkward dialogue that existed only to please the tiny portion of the audience who knows Poe’s backstory.

After watching the review and someone who generally really likes Poe, I'll probably pick this up.

Poe's mixed up backstory in TROS miffed me too but glad to see a decent story came out of it despite having to move some things around

Sounds like a cool story. I think giving Poe a back-story as a spice runner was a good idea, and it fits really well with the message of Rise of Skywalker. Poe being a spice-runner doesn't mean that he was 'always a spice-runner' or that it defines him (again this is part of TROS's overarching message). Even in the film it seems likely that the spice-runner thing was only temporary, or a small part of Poe's life, as Segura works to reaffirm. Being upset about Poe's additional temporary period as a spice runner makes sense and I am not trying to say your feelings on the matter are wrong, I'm just saying that adding this small part of his life adds more layers of complexity to Poe's character---what teenager doesn't go and do stupid things, or have a period in their lives that they regret or come to realize was wrong, or whatever. I don't think a small period of spice-running when Poe's a rebellious teenager ruins his backstory as told in other media (although I haven't read all of his backstory). Either way, thanks for the review as always :-D

Hey, I’m curious on why the tiny detail of Poe saying he left to join the resistance annoys you so much? Not trying to hate it’s just you guys are usually chill so I was curious on why this particular issue bothers you. Anyway nice review and I’m excited to read it

I just got my copy today so I can’t speak to the execution yet, but personally I don’t mind that Zorii said he left the Spice Runners to join the Resistance. I can have an easier time connecting this novel with the films and the comics because I just remind myself that Zorii’s words aren’t necessarily fact. Maybe she’s just using the word Resistance as shorthand for “military” overall? Maybe she means New Republic, but because it was destroyed, she’s a little confused on how to refer to it? I’m basically saying that I think it can be shrugged off with narrator reliability. Especially since she was saying it while threatening to kill Poe and turn Rey in. Tensions were high.

I still don't see how what Rise of Skywalker did was much of a change, his backstory was really basic and allowed for something else like this to already fit in.

I absolutely agree. Jj should’ve kept up wi Th the lore . Same with rian. I wish rian checked with the story group instead of making Rey and Poe meet for the first time ... a second time. . Hopefully Disney will make a better effort to pay attention to the lore they craft throughout all mediums

I think it would’ve been cooler if Poe went from New Republic -> Spice Runner -> Resistance. Imagine if Poe had such an idealistic idea of protecting and serving like his parents did only to find out the new republic is corrupt which forces him to leave. His spice runner times could’ve been a low point for Poe where he has given up his idealistic ways and now serves no one but himself, only for murmurs about the resistance to inspire him to find a new cause to fight for. I think that would’ve been interesting but that’s just me.

1:15 don’t always trust what the comics say, Luckasfilm always retcons them, remember the Ashoka novel which covered everything she did in the aftermath of order 66? Well Clone Wars season 7 completely retconned everything that happened in that novel, so it’s possible that the Po Dameron comics are no longer cannon.
