Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I didn't catch what astatic mic you had. I would guess a m6 or 636. Anyway they did a sloppy job wiring it. Either the shield or tx wire was hitting the up and down frequency pins. Used to do a lot of repair years back. Walcott was always a hit and miss with people. But they manage to stay in business. Also they have been in trouble with the fcc a time or two. Good luck and try to find a reliable radio repair person that will explain things to you. Some of these places are so crooked they will rob you blind. I don't think Walcott would do that, but they are only as good as their help at the time. 73, safe travels

Sir I know this is an old video post. But I wash houses here in Tennessee and there are people in my area who wash houses and pay for their #1 spot on Google. I will not pay for them and I get my reviews the right way and that is do a good job

When you try to be a super C beer you’re going to have nothing but troubles and frustration. Been doing this since the late 70s haven’t gone to one of those super shops ever I got it sounded equipment

I have also been on the air since the 70's. I only have one shop I recommend, Bells CB in Oakland Park Fl. I also have been using Bells CB since the 70's. I live out of state now, but I still mail them my radios when they need any work. I was just given (for free) a Quad six. I sent it to them, it came back with a written tune up report complete with a list of the test equipment that it was tested on.

I forgot my mic changes channels to on my quad five, I got mine to work. I don’t know how, but what I did in the meantime, was when I went on a channel I just press the lock button and it didn’t move.

Wilcott radio did the same thing to me, they were supposed to cut the wire back on the number four connector on my mic plug so my road devil mic would work, they cut it, but they didn’t cut it short so it shorted out and ruined my mic, I paid them. I forgot what it was. I think 70 bucks for a peek and tune, and when I got it, I brought it to my friend who has really nice equipment, when he put the radio on his workbench, it only had 30 W they never opened it they never touch nothing they just threw everything in the box charged me to wire up the Mic charged me for Peek and tune, and did none of it just sent me the radio, and charged me a little over $100 for a bunch of extras, including nine dollars and change for a 9 V battery, I understand they have a good reputation for doing exactly what they did to me

Just put it this way, never again. I'm done with that cb shop. After they're done working on your brand new radio. It looks like it's been used for a year And mistreated. And they don't reimburse you. Read the small print.

I bought a RCI 99N4 from Walcott. Dave was the staff member that set it up. After 8 months, the radio is doing great. No issues at all. I dont claim to be a Hard Drive about radios but I know enough to see Dave did a great job on my radio. Really nice lineal and modulation set perfect for clarity.

Walcotts is a hack shop, I get quite of few of their radios in my shop that need re-tuning. They don’t use or know how to use an Oscilloscope properly

People who don’t know much about cb radios will say Walcott techs really know their stuff. I have learned a lot about CB’s recently from someone who actually knows their stuff and Walcott techs only know enough to sell you their products. Pathetic people who work there. Great video!

I have the same radio, with the same problem. It is not the mic. It is a problem inside the Radio. And it only does it when the Radio is cold. After the car heats up the Radio is fine.
