Anterior Placenta Challenges and Risks

Anterior placenta challenges include hearing the baby's heartbeat on the doppler and feeling the baby kick. It is common to have an anterior placenta even though your care provider might mention it in a way that makes you wonder if there are risks.

I’m 33 weeks pregnant with a boy, found out I have an anterior placenta, and YES I have always always always slept on my stomach! I am however A- blood type, and baby has been head down facing my side the entire pregnancy.

The kicks though 😳 yah no problem feeling or seeing those- He’s kicked so hard during ultrasounds that he made the tech’s hand bounce!

Ok so, I am 20 weeks pregnant and two days back I got to know that I have an Anterior placenta. As I am watching this video to gain more knowledge on the topic, I felt my babies first kick, followed by many kicks. 💕 such a special feeling. Thank you for great, and easy to understand content about placentas ❤

Fascinating! I have an anterior placenta with my current pregnancy. I am type O positive blood and am having a girl, but I am not a stomach sleeper. I also didn't feel her moving until I got to around 23 weeks, which was making me very anxious when everyone on social media was saying they felt their babies at like 15 weeks. But she is fine and moving around a ton now! Not actually sorry to miss the "Alien" experience, those videos creep me out! 😆

I love the rapid fire answers lol
Im currently 20 weeks, first pregnancy, baby is a boy, major stomach sleeper, O negative blood type, and just got told I have an anterior placenta. I was shocked because my OB told me I wouldn’t feel the baby until later 24 weeks or so. I explained to her my baby must be a strong kicker because I’ve felt the baby since 19 weeks. I was just told to not worry about my placenta placement and I would feel less baby kicks. I asked all my female relatives, friends, and fathers side of the family if they had ever had an anterior placenta. To my surprise none of them knew what it was or had an anterior placenta. I appreciate being able to get more information on this & realizing its just the luck of the draw lol

I have had two pregnancies with anterior placentas, and both babies were in the OP position. Hello, back labor! I worked really really hard and God was very good to me and in my second pregnancy with an anterior placenta baby cooperated and ended up in a good position when “Labor Day” finally came. I was so grateful! Still had back labor though, so that sucked. I wish my midwife had told me that anterior placenta could predispose baby to OP position, and given me a heads up on the implications in regards to my desire for an intervention-free labor and delivery. The more you know…!!
Thanks for all you do on this channel to help people know more and be empowered as they make decisions and experience pregnancy and birth!

This video explained perfectly what an anterior placenta is. I have always been a stomach sleeper and I’m having a girl in 8 weeks. I didn’t feel any movement until 21 weeks now she kicks hard on my sides when laying down.

I am 20 weeks. I am having a baby boy. Low lying anterior placenta. I’m still set on a home birth. I am a stomach sleeper, even as my belly grows, I need to lay on my tummy for comfort. But after conception I was careful to stay on my back with elevated hips but who knows. My blood is A- . Praying for a home birth!!!. Thanks!!

I've had 2 pregnancies with anterior placentas. O positive blood, and sometimes a stomach sleeper! First was a boy, second a girl. Fascinating!

So interesting! Both my pregnancies have been with an anterior placenta. I’m a belly sleeper and my husband is 0+, my first baby was sunny side up and back labor was intense. Hoping my next labor is smoother!

This was so helpful to hear from someone who actually experienced it and not ppl just giving textbook information bc I’m 31 weeks and the movements feel so subtle and hard to catch.

I had an anterior placenta and a sunny side up baby boy. I also am a stomach sleeper with O Positive blood. This was so interesting. Thank you! I did feel like I lacked some of the pregnancy experience not seeing and feeling the movement like others.

Stomach sleeper! 29 weeks with a little girly. O positive. I’m athletic and can see her kick loads. Very alien like and so cool. First baby ❤ I felt her kicking from 15 weeks!! Then it just got stronger & stronger!

Currently 25 weeks with a baby girl and told at my anatomy scan that I have an anterior placenta. I didn’t feel her move until 17 weeks and my husband couldn’t feel her until 20 weeks and he still doesn’t feel her often ☹️ but I am 100% primary stomach sleeper prior to pregnancy so I found that very interesting!!

So interesting to see the crossover of experiences here- I found out I was pregnant nearly 4 months in this time and had an easy time sleeping on my stomach up until the 3rd trimester when I was truly showing and feeling limited. Thank you for the video! It helped ease my mind. It truly is normal and I wish they would have said that upon mentioning it.

I have 2 boys and 1 girl currently 37 weeks pregnant with my 3rd boy. All of my pregnancies I have had an anterior placenta. I found that it was a challenge to see my babies faces on ultrasound.
