Apple Grenadier - a good quality culinary apple that ripens in August cooks to a tangy fluff with a honeyed flavour. The flattish large green apples have distinct rounded ribbing. A reliably cropping variety suitable for growing in most parts of the UK.

Growing this one in South Yorkshire, England. Been giving large fruit for at least 3 years, every year is good fruiting.
Only complaint is the duration they keep...less than a week and if you are not quick to pick them they go bad on the tree, maybe due to a combination of damp weather and pests.
I find the core of the apple is generally easy to remove with a relatively square cut of about 3-4cm maximum circumference around the stalk. Plenty of flesh for cooking nice pureéd multi-fruit crumbles. Pair this with some early Williams/Bartlett variety pears and you have a late June to mid-August smooth pureé fruit crumble filling.
