For the uninitiated, the brown color in the wave is the tons of very coarse grained sand that’s dredged up in the 6” of water ahead of the very steep beach slope. “Nailing it” means he timed his entry (as though by intent) to make it past the most critical part of the wave into the (very temporary) “clear” before himself being “nailed” & clouted by the huge “closed out” wave lip that drove him straight to bouncing & being relentlessly pummeled into that very unforgiving bottom. Bracing the back of your neck with both hands sometimes helps. Otherwise, great fun!

It looked more like he was sand spotting... grinding the shoulders into the sand is never fun. Getting the sand out of the skin is even less fun. Are you Shure he nailed it because it honestly looked more like that wave nailed and grinded him into the sand. Hat's off for having the courage to body surf that area without any rubber. 😐
