50 Actors Nearly Cast As SUPERMAN

Taking on the role of Superman is considered one of the most challenging superhero roles. Which explains the literal hundreds of people that have auditioned for the part to lose out to Christopher Reeve, Brandon Routh and most recently Henry Cavill.

Some of the names that were on that incredibly long list and really surprising and go right back to the mid nineteen seventies when the Superman franchise was making the big step towards mainstream Hollywood. Some actors you could definitely see in the role whilst others (looking at you Neil Diamond) you can’t even imagine.

Christopher Reeve embodies the "perfect" Superman from the older comics.
Henry Cavill does a great job embodying the modern "New 52" Superman.
These two are my favorite Supermen :)
