Thanks Andrew, I have always thought of Swing Weight as the balance point of a club and personally I like a SW around D1-D2 as this allows me to "feel" the club head. I struggle with SW's in the low C's as it feels like there is nothing on the end of the shaft.
A few years ago I had the brainwave of putting extensions in the end of my Iron shafts to make them 1/2" longer, but the extra weight in the grip end completely changed the swing weight and ruined the feel of the club and I ended up giving them away!

I have an old set of goldwin clubs. They are fitted with an aluminium golf shaft from Easton and also have a very light grip. The swingweight comes out around E1. I actually like them a lot.

great video. how do you calibrate an old swing weight scale? I have and old golfsmith scale from 40 yrs ago or more. not sure if its giving me the right reading.

Andrew, very enlightening. Question-I have a set of one length Cobras with mid-size grips. If I switched to standard size grips could it take out enough weight in the handle that I would feel the head more? I would prefer that. I checked a Lamkin chart and it says I should be using standard size anyway. Any opinion? Or not enough info? Or is it irrelevant?

Hi Andrew, if I mess around with different layers of tape and grips which are different to the ones that came on the custom fitted clubs, will that affect weight and should i stick with like for like when changing the grips?!

Always amazed that so many companies selling expensive putters don't adjust for swing weight. As someone who uses a 33ins putter, both Odyssey and Ping are guilty of this...
