Man, this song/video brings tears to my eyes. I grew up loving this song, and many other leelas and chhakris etc, listening to our family's old cassette tape collection. I grew up completely outside Kashmir but it still permeates so many aspects of who I am. I love the scenes of you sitting with (I'm guessing) your dad...most of my generation of KPs after the exodus have similar memories of sitting with parents and grandparents and hearing all the wondrous stories of our homeland. The pain of its loss carries through generations. The little girl cartooned in here looks so much like pictures my mom during the time of forced Migration -- she was a skinny little woman with those big dorky glasses they liked to wear in the early 90s -- and that image really hits home. I still see that same pain in longing in my mom as she watches her culture and her world slowly dying out. Wrapping all of that together in a song like this (beautifully sung and with fantastic production) just validates how important my heritage is to me. Thank you :)
