In the Southern Hemisphere, where I live, we’re approaching Beltane. Having said that, at this time I still celebrate Halloween, which is not Samhain. In other words, I like a good party and to me Halloween is a great time to party.
Anyone who is reading this, enjoy the season, enjoy your friends and family and, maybe watch a scary movie or two. Southern or northern hemisphere wherever you are celebrate the true spiritual : enjoy the entertainment, just have some fun.
P.S. I too was raised Catholic, even did the altar boy thing ( I wasn’t very good at it ). That was a long time ago.

First year I get to dress as close as I can to my Swedish/Norse ancestors. I'm excited about it because I can finally celebrate the holiday knowing that traditionally it's a pagan holiday. As I do let my kids trick or treat don't yet me wrong, but I also get with other like minded people who are friends and we celebrate in honor of the ancestors. Even though I took was raised in a house where it was Roman Catholic because of one parent being Italian, I choose to take the Norse Germanic pagan religion.

I came across information relating these events to Ancient cosmic events that had to possibly do with the Turid meteors showers during this time of year. In memory of these events another tradition was formed. Great video thank you.

Purgatory seems to have been a place that it wasn't uncommon for people to pop in and out of if they had messages to pass on etc obviously that view changed in common culture with the advent of Protestantism but I always found it so interesting, like skipping school for a day to go warn your pal Billy about the incoming plague or whatever.

I didn't know about the Lisbon earthquake, was that related to a volcanic event, I know of several that occurred in the 1800s but they tended to be in the Pacific, I must have a google, thank you for sharing this.

Also thinking about how the saint's were seen as having an incorruptible corpse during the Middle Ages and in some ways still now, when most people would turn around and be like Vampire Alert!!

Always a pleasure. I was looking at the old farmers and fisherman's almanac at the moon phases. Here I must speak as a former Christian. We are of accord the early church was in no wise homogenous. Where we diverge is certain historical details. Namely, until Emporer Constantine I there existed neither Christians nor Christianity. In Acts we read how the early believers were called Messianic at Antioch. This sole detail is a non sequitur if understood as them 'first called Christians at Antioch'.

Those who were part of this sect called the Way (haDerek) practised not as disciples. Rather as talmidim who sacrificed all to follow their rabbi. Shaul never claimed a conversion. Instead when speaking in his defense he spoke as one who experienced a paradigm shift.

Constantine I created Christianity solely for political reasons. Never did he cease being Pontifex Maximus of Roma. Indeed Constantine converted to Christianity upon his deathbed.

Not many people preach the pagan holidays being translated to chatholic holidays. Try to tell diehard christians thier religion holds pagan traditions it makes smoke come out of thier ears lol.
