This is wonderful. We can't tolerate long term property hoarding any more. Allowing our housing stock slip into dereliction without penalties is foolishness. If investors or indeed, folk who've inherited their property, want to sit on their property long term without making a decision or making it work.... then invest in forestry. Leave housing to those who wish to actively steward it.

How about a relaxation in planning permission... the only way young people are going have any chance in this thing is if they can self build smaller homes on plots outsides of the cities...

PLEASE WILL SOMEONE READ THIS FROM CORK.

How can anyone say the housing crisis will be solved ? I was told by my county council in my North district area of Cork as I am from the City but live in the county of cork since 2015 and on the CBL housing list 9 years and 7 months.

I was call in and told in 2018 that NO houses were being built in my area of North district what so ever. So now in 2021, I have found out, and also done my research.
I drove to the area where I was told to go about 1 mile from where I live and YES houses are built there and have been given out to locals who were not even on the list for long and WAIT FOR
13 houses were built and cork county council told me that nothing was going up there and sent me back to city council list.
Then to be told that the local "political" councilour liased with staff who obviously outed people like me and not alone that but gave two 2 bedroomed houses to a couple that split up, one house each and a guy with no illness and not working got the other 2 bedroomed house .

Anyone political would like to talk to me about this gangster organisation. Also I done my homework, citizens advice, FOI, and yes the house were being built and kept for the country people.

I am homeless in 4 weeks. I'm well educated and re-educated myself again so I used the taxpayers money as best I could I am now a tutor and found instead of spending 4 shit years running around after Fetac courses and no job as they prefer a degree in job applications, that, I could have done a university
