Things I came into this video hoping to receive:
-sweet C5 driving footage
-dad jokes
-jokes about dads buying corvettes
-being called out as a 40 something owning one of these
-the desire to throw out my New Balance sneakers

Things I did NOT sign up for:
-facing my own mortality
-existential dread
-realizing I can no longer see the faces of those that wronged me 20+ years ago

Great video as always, fellas. I hope whoever wins this car loves the hell out of it.

The whole ending about time and existence with “Chase the horizon, the c5 is fast enough to get you there”… WOW. Literally felt emotions of just how much a car like this can make you feel. We all know those long drives in the car we love to nowhere just before the sunset during summer, to return home at dark feeling like we are kids again.

"I always look at 2000 as the bonus lap of the 90s" The 90s ended on september 11th 2001.

The part where you got all deep about the passage and effect of time really hit me. It made me think about a lot of things. This channel really is a gift - who knew cars could have such depth to them

When you put black rims on a red C5, you go from dad mode to cool dad mode. I'll put on my chevy hat and cargo shorts on now.

I wasn't expecting to be brought to the verge of tears. And now, here I am... sitting in the cab of an International in Richmond, trying not to break down sobbing like I've just watched 'Gunshot of Remorse'... again.

Thanks, Mr Regular. You're helping me feel. :3

As a GenX in the first half of a 40 year career, I caught glimpse of an all new 1997 C5 in my rearview while on a business trip. Always a bit of a Ferrari fan, I was astonished at the sight of the car that I began to pace for the next several miles. A car like that, let alone any Corvette, was out of my financial reach and this became what was the dream of someday. Well, someday came in the summer of 2013 as I drove home in my "new to me" 2001 torch red convertible Corvette. There I was, top down, rowing through the 6 speed gear box on Hwy 64 out of Franklin NC, tears in my eyes and a joy of life that driving the car still gives me today. My dad told me a similar story that happened to him on some back road in Texas in our 1968 GTO, I was with him that day and, as a kid, I really didn't realize what that day meant to him....wish he could have been there with me on my "someday".

This really felt like one of the OG episodes from the earlier years. It had everything I enjoy from an RCR episode. Keep it up Mr.Regular!

That final bit about time reminded me of my favorite Captain Picard quote. "Someone once told me that time is a predator that stalks us all our lives, but I rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey, and reminds us to cherish every moment, because they'll never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we've lived. After all, Number One, we're only mortal."

As a 57 year old Dad with a Corvette shirt and a chair to sit in at cruise nights I approve this video.

As a middle aged man who takes care of old people and who doesn't have his shit together this video hit me really hard. The writing is so good... and painful.

This is rhetorically one of the best episodes in years.

Dude I stood up and applauded at the end, screaming "Bravo!" My wife thought I was nuts. Well more nuts than usual because at almost 50, this is all I think about now. This business about time, and the sequence of moments, the losses, the gains, and the changes. The first heartbreak, end of the band, the first marriage and its end, the first death of a friend, the first CAT scan, the first signs of slowing and infirmity knocking at the door, the patterns repeating themselves through the generations, and the utter, dark senselessness of it all. So after 20 years of lusting after one I bought a used Civic Si. Not because it would make me feel 'young'(I'm not nearly naive enough to think that). But to try to outrun the nihilism. To try to get out in front of it. Instead of feeling like I'm being swallowed by it. Something has to matter, as we whip around the Sun and it coasts around the galaxy, itself circling other galaxies, the fires of a quadrillion suns fed by the sheer indifference to their own existences.

Awesome episode. Also I got to drive a C4 back in '96 and I was thrilled for that half hour of my life. I'm not a 'car guy' so I rarely get the opportunity to drive true performance cars. 'Vettes rule

The C5 WAS a dad's car...when it was new. Now it ticks all the boxes of a young person's sportscar. Not least of all because of the ability of a young person to attain it and enjoy it.

Picked up my c5 this year, I’m 35 and love that these are under appreciated because it keeps prices down.

As a late 30s dad with a C5 Z06 and license plate that reads JORTS. I approve of this giveaway. Can't have much more fun than in a C5 vette.

I just bought a 02 z06 and I’m exactly as old as it is. I bought one of the best machines of all time, and I’m so glad nobody my age realizes that because I was able to afford this car. I love this car and will probably drive it until the day I die.

Bro, your long bits (in this case about “time”, towards the end) are masterful and under appreciated. I’ve gone back to your FJ video many times, just to hear your Simulation/Simulacra analysis. Keep up the great content.

Came for dad jokes, got an existential crisis instead. Well done as always, rcr.
