@John Mac, did you ever find an optimization or alternative technique that allowed you to scale these vector fields to larger systems?

I actually don't need overlapping geo! Could you direct me to some papers or information online about the technique you're describing? I've only ever seen voxelizing in terms of voxel cone tracing GI, and that's out of my league :P

If you don't need overlapping geometry, I guess you could voxellize the scene and then try to run the physics simulation on the GPU too.

Yeah, that was what I was referring to. You don't have to implement the cone tracing part, only the voxelization ;)
